

William “Bill” Dean May, Sr (76) went to be with our Lord on December 2, 2021 surrounded with loved ones at St. Joseph Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Bill was born in Mexico, Missouri on March 20, 1945. Bill volunteered and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1962 and served one tour in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1966.
Bill later graduated the Belleville Barber College. He met and married Judith “Judy” May (Davinroy) (deceased) on April 19, 1964 and relocated to Herrin, Illinois, where he worked and owned the Handi-Klipper Barber Shop. Bill and Judy went on to start a family with a daughter, Tynette Jansen (May) and a son, William “Billy” Dean May, Jr. Bill was instrumental in establishing the Marine Corps League in Southern Illinois. He was also actively involved with HerrinFesta. Bill was a member the VFW and American Legion.
After retirement, Bill moved to Arizona where he met and married Linda Ann McLaughlin (Stoltenberg) on January 14, 2017. They resided in Marana, Arizona. Bill enjoyed traveling with Linda across the country to visit grandchildren and family, as well as across the world.
He is survived by: wife - Linda May of Marana, AZ; Children - Tynette and Jeff Jansen of Herrin, Il; Billy and Samantha (Sami) May of Saint Hedwig, TX; Grandchildren – Tayler (Williams) and Pete Moniz of East Providence, RI; Jennifer (Jansen) and Mitchell Sanders of Murphysboro, IL; Colton Jansen of Wynne, AR; William “Will” D. May, III of Herrin, IL; Shanie May of Herrin, IL; Brylee Horn of Benton, IL; Extended family Maureen (McLaughlin) and Nuch Ruangchamneil with children Megan and Hayden of Gilbert, AZ; Patrick McLaughlin of Marana, AZ; Siblings – Leonard and Donna May of Scottsdale, AZ; Janice and Ron Francis of St. Louis, MO; Richard and Beverly May of Mexico, MO; John and Katrina May of Trout Run, PA.
He was also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, Judy’s family, and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by: Parents – John and Awelda May; Wife - Judy May. He will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made: Resurrection Lutheran Church of Oro Valley, AZ; Marine Corps League; Marine Toys for Tots. Visitation will be at Marana Mortuary Cemetery; 12146 W. Barnett Road, Marana, AZ on December 9, 2021, 10 to 11; services with full military rites will begin at 11. Burial will be December 20, 2021 at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana, AZ.
