Born in 1931 in London, TX, he was a general contractor in Burnet County
for 40 years, a trade his father taught him which had taken him across the
country to projects in many states. He was “Dad” to all, never knowing a
stranger. He took great joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Active in community affairs, he served for many years on projects for
Cottonwood Shores Area Volunteer Fire Department and Cottonwood Community
Church, as well as supported many candidates and elected officials in their
duties.
He was preceded in death by parents Ernest and Ida Martin, brothers
Raymond Martin and Rae Martin; sisters Ima Jo Jowers, Johnni Mae Worrell
and Lorine Floyd, wives Marlene Pratt and Gladys “Alice” Martin and one son
Ernest Martin.
He is survived by his children, Skeeter and Peggy Martin, Ft Worth, TX; Kathy Pope,Hallstead, PA; Cindy Ribera and Ron Latronica, Marble Falls, TX; Dot &
Larry Bryson, Kirkwood, NY, Butch and Tim Hunziker, Burnet, TX; Bengerman
E. “Bengie” Martin III, Killeen, TX; Mike & Darlene Martin, Granite Shoals,
TX; Tim Martin, Granite Shoals, TX; Rev. Bentley Martin, mayor of the city
of Cottonwood Shores; one sidekick Melissa Hoefs; and 29 grandchildren and
70 great grandchildren.
Come and join his family in a celebration of his life Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls with inurnment to follow at Cottonwood Community Church, Cottonwood Shores with Rev. George Perry and Rev. Roger Lawson officiating. Dinner to follow at his residence in Cottonwood Shores; please bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs.
