

Bob Grimes, 86 of Meadowlakes (Marble Falls, Texas) passed away May 12, 2012. Bob was born in Cypert, Arkansas January 26, 1926, to Joseph Marvin Grimes, Sr. and Alice (O’Neal) Grimes. He spent most of his Childhood in Stephenville, Texas. Bob entered service in the U.S. Navy January 1943 during WWII and was honorably discharged in April 1947. On June 21, 1947 Bob married his life’s love Lil Julian in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and in 2007 celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Bob graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. In 1981 after a long career with Agrico Chemical Company and Williams Brothers, Bob retired. He and Lil then moved to Broken Bow, Oklahoma where they lived for 18 years. In 1998 they moved to Marble Falls where they spent their remaining years.
Bob was an avid golfer and very proud that at age 80 he could score his age. He found great joy in playing golf with his wife and friends. On most days Bob could be found riding his bike through Meadowlakes, playing golf, or working in his beautiful yard. When weather didn’t permit Bob to pursue outdoor activities, he enjoyed working with his stained glass.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lil and two brothers, J.M. Grimes and Redus Grimes. He is survived by his daughter Kathy Grimes of Burnet; sons Steve Grimes and wife Rose Blanchard of Austin and Joe Grimes and wife Tommie of Sulphur, Oklahoma. Also surviving are grandchildren Erika Lynch of Ft. Worth and Tyler Grimes and Katie Grimes both of Sulphur, Oklahoma. Bob’s great grandchildren are Ryleigh Lynch and Brayden Lynch. Surviving also are sisters Missy Batchelor and Marjy McCoy both of Stephenville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Marble Falls First United Methodist Church with Reverend Ellen Ely officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Marble Falls Library Thrift Shop.
