

Deas Huger “Gene” Warley, III passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 20, 2016, in Goldthwaite, Texas. Born and raised in Houston, Gene and his wife, Susie Nickerson-Warley, currently reside in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. A retired Air Force captain, Gene served in the Vietnam War. The CEO of several oil companies, he held a master’s degree in Engineering and, in 1998, retired as CEO of Midland Resources, Inc. An avid hunter and fisherman, Gene also enjoyed snow skiing, waterskiing, scuba diving, and traveling, with his most recent trip being to Japan to attend his wife’s academic conference. A man of adventure, Gene lived life to its fullest and was always there for his family. He leaves behind his wife, Susie, and children, Becky Jones, Sean Warley, Chris Warley, Justin Hodges and Harrison Hodges. He also leaves behind his sister, Wincy Cheney, and brother, John Warley, along with numerous grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gene was especially close to his granddaughter, Maegan Mickool, who recently graduated from the University of Houston. He was preceded in death by his father, Deas Huger Warley, Jr., his mother, Ruth Lynch Warley, and his son Deas Huger “Bruce” Warley, IV. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, 2016, at 11:00AM at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home located at 1805 Highway 281 North in Marble Falls, Texas, 78654.
