On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, Dixie Lee Penny, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully departed this world at the age of 84. Surrounded by her children and cherished family members, she transitioned into Heaven.
Dixie graced our world on June 22, 1939, in Wallace, Idaho, born to her loving parents, Carl L. Starchman and Freda Mae Worley. She is survived by her daughter, Patty Ribera, her son, Mike Winsborough, and his devoted wife, Brenda, and by her daughter, Barbara Dupree, and by her sister, Cheri Neill. Dixie's legacy extends through her grandchildren: Angela Ribera, Brandon Ribera, Ashlee Ribera, John Winsborough, Matthew Winsborough, Bailey Dupree, and Joshua Dupree. Her great-grandchildren include Corban Casjens, Dominic Casjens, Castiel Casjens, Madison Winsborough, Lily Winsborough, David Winsborough, and Miles Ribera.
After graduating high school in her hometown of Wallace, Idaho, she ventured into the world as a young adult, seeking her path. Over the next 15 years, she lived in various locales, nurturing her young children and instilling the values and ethics to guide them in life's journey. In 1977, Dixie and her children found a permanent home in Marble Falls, Texas, where she later met and married M.H. Penny. They were married until his premature death in 1987. After MH's death, Dixie moved to Miami, OK, for a few years before returning to Marble Falls in 1993, where she could be closer to her children. She continued to work in the local community for the next 12 years before retiring. Her proximity to her children and their families was a constant blessing throughout most of their lives.
Dixie embraced Christ's teachings at an early age and endeavored to live her life guided by His wisdom. She was a beacon of kindness, extending warmth to all who crossed her path, never knowing a stranger.
Funeral services to honor Dixie's life will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. A burial ceremony will follow at Tobey Cemetery, where we will lay her to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Dixie's memory.
Dixie's legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
