

Donald Gene “Don” Holland, 83, of Marble Falls, Texas passed away October 17th, 2014, at the Houston Hospice after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born in Marble Falls August 20th, 1931, the 8th child of Bessie Mariah and Marshall N. Holland.
Don graduated from Marble Falls High School and then earned a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin. His sister, Anna Ruth Holland Wilde was a significant support and influence in his life, education, and career. Don spent most of his life in Midland working in the Oil and Gas industry. He married Carolyn Gray in 1957 and raised two children, Mark and Gaye, and two grandchildren, Crystal and Garrit.
Don spent the last years of his life as he loved, in Marble Falls near a brother, Fred Holland, and family, working his land with his grandson, Garrit. Don has been very influential in many people’s lives and will be terribly missed and fondly remembered forever.
Don was preceded in death by parents Marshall and Bessie, 3 sisters (Claudia, Anna Ruth and Lois) and 3 brothers (Jay, Malcolm and Dudley). He is survived by his children, Mark Holland of Houston, Gaye Skiles of Midland and his grandchildren Crystal Chapman of Midland and Garrit Skiles of Stephenville, and his brother, Fred Holland of Marble Falls.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday evening October 20 from 6 to 8. The funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon October 21st at 2 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Marble Falls. Condolences may be offered at www.clementswilcoxfuneralhome.com.
