Born and raised in Connecticut, Doris was the daughter of John and Carolyn (Rowley) Haraburda. She attended Southbury high school graduating in 1964.
Doris would marry the love of her life Harold Shaw on April 6, 1968. They spent 57 wonderful years together. For many years, Doris worked with her husband on their Dairy Farm in Great Barrington. When her children were older, she chose to re-enter the workforce. She worked at the former First Aggie Bank in Great Barrington starting as a receptionist and moving up to commercial lending department. After leaving the world of high finance, she worked for Sinopoli Farm Family Insurance for many years.
Doris was known for her passion for cooking and baking, her enormous collection of cookbooks, sewing, knitting and various craft projects. She was always open to tackling new adventures and helping a friend in need. Doris and Harold spent many wonderful years traveling and exploring the country in their 5th wheel RV. When Harold sold the dairy cows in 2005, she often joked that she “grabbed Harold by the collar” and became Winter Texans in Mission, Texas. Where she would host many social gatherings, cookouts and soirees for friends and neighbors at their home.
In 2013, after the loss of their son Todd, Harold and Doris made the decision to move to Texas permanently, settling in Round Mountain.
Doris is survived by her husband Harold of Round Mountain and Daughter Nancy Shaw of Marble Falls, Texas. Her Sister and brother-in-law Jill and Craig Chamberlain of Maine, Sister-in-law Sylvia Page of New Hampshire and nephews, John, Shawn and Keith Haraburda. Her Nieces Dorinda and Barbara Withers of Massachusetts. Grandchildren Carolyn, David and Great Grandson David Todd. She was predeceased by her son Todd Shaw in 2013 and nephew James Withers in 2023.
At this time there will be no calling hours. A memorial celebrating Doris’s life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Helping Center, PO Box 402, Marble Falls, TX 78654 https://www.helpingcenter.org
