Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, officiated by preacher Holton George. Interment will follow at the Lewis Family Cemetery in Spicewood.
Elmo was born on Aug. 28, 1942, in Burnet, Texas, to Grady Dawson Lewis and Dorothy Lenore Crawford Lewis. He went to school at Marble Falls High School, and also attended classes at St. Edward’s University in Austin. Elmo served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966, where he served with the Hell on Wheels division.
Elmo later worked briefly as an Austin Fire Department firefighter. He also worked as a maintenance mechanic with Seton Hospital in Austin for more than 20 years, and then Lakeway Inn for 28 years before retiring.
Elmo was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and enjoyed helping others. He attended services at the Church of Christ in Spicewood. Elmo enjoyed the outdoors and was an animal lover. Elmo enjoyed hunting, fishing and roping, and helping his family, as well as other youth, with their 4H and FFA livestock show projects. His dog, Corky, a faithful little companion, went everywhere with him.
Elmo was preceded in death by his parents; younger brother, Jerry Dawson Lewis; and grandparents: Earl and Julia Crawford and Merritt H. and Margaret Ellen Phillips Lewis. Survivors include his wife, Angie Eisen Lewis; daughter, Sharon Lynette Lewis Abels, Shelley Ann Lewis and Shauna Renee Lewis, as well as Sharon’s children, Kayla Angelique and Jacob Casey Abels and Shauna’s boyfriend, Jeremy Duncan Lang. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Laurie Lewis; sister-in-law, Vickie Eisen Rosentreter and husband, Gene Rosentreter; and brother-in-law, Paul Eisen and wife, Doris Eisen; and numerous close aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Joe Lewis, Cody Lewis, Trapper Lewis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Keith Crawford, Bobby Crawford, Paul Adams, Farron Spross, Greg Johnson and Eric Peterson.
