Eunice Amy Gold Petrich, dearly loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (Gigi), left this world for heaven on August 27, 2011. Eunice was born on November 8, 1924 in New Braunfels, Texas to Gardie Gottlieb Gold and Etta Reeh Gold. She married her soul-mate and best friend, John Robert Petrich, Jr. in San Antonio on July 24, 1946. They were married for sixty years and raised three children who were their pride and joy.
It was at Eunice’s urging that John attained his BS in Engineering from UT, after his service in the Navy during World War II, and she made a home in Austin, Port Lavaca, San Antonio, Wichita, Kansas and Omaha, Nebraska as his career advanced. After retirement, John and Eunice returned home to Texas in 1985, settling in Horseshoe Bay. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a talented and creative homemaker, a wonderful seamstress, an enthusiastic volunteer and a great friend to many.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She leaves behind her children: Gayle Ely and her husband, Chuck of Horseshoe Bay; Cynthia Neesen and her husband, Frank, of David City, Nebraska; and Paul Petrich and his wife, Julie, of Windermere, Florida; eight grandchildren: Coni Guerin (Christopher), John Ely (Jen), Evan Neesen (Becci), Ian Neesen, Owen Neesen, Sara Petrich, Katie Petrich and Madison Petrich; and three great-grandchildren: Addison Neesen, Ari Neesen and Campbell Guerin. Eunice is also survived by her sister, Jeanette McLeod, and her husband, Dick, of Cupertino, California.
The funeral Mass was held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bay on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 9:00 AM. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
