Gene Durward Gilliam

Gene D. Gilliam, 88, of Marble Falls, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2026. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on December 31, 1937, Gene lived a life marked by perseverance, service, and deep devotion to his family and community.

Gene grew up in Corpus Christi and attended Roy Miller High School. He went on to become the proud owner of Gilliam Auto Sales, which he operated for 43 years. Through his business, Gene built more than a livelihood — he built relationships. Known for his honesty and steady handshake, he believed in treating people fairly and helping them when they needed it most.

He was a proud member of the Texas Rangers Lawman Association for 50 years, reflecting his strong respect for integrity and service. One of the greatest callings of his life was his dedication to the Alcoholics Anonymous program. For more than 44 years, Gene remained a consistent and faithful member, offering guidance, encouragement, and hope to those struggling with addiction. His willingness to share his experience and extend compassion changed countless lives.

Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Jewellee Gilliam; his father, Gene D. Gilliam; his beloved wife, Georgia Gilliam; his daughter-in-law, Mary A. Gilliam; his great-grandson, Wyatt Gene Gilliam; and his sisters, Virginia Schwartz and Vanda Tomlinson.

He is survived by his loving family: his brother, Frank Marshall and wife Lucy Marshall; his sister, Tammy Martinez and husband Carlos Martinez; his son, Geno Durward Gilliam and Athenee Herrera; his daughter, Tashya Lynn Gilliam; Joseph Dean Gilliam and his grandchildren, Ali Bridges and husband Josh Bridges, Josie Lea Gilliam, Veronica Karl, Kristina Lousie Langley and husband Joey Langley, and Cody Gene Gilliam Sprouse. He also leaves behind many great-grandchildren, dear friends, and many individuals whose lives were touched by his kindness and mentorship.

Gene will be remembered for his steady presence, his quiet strength, his generous heart, and his belief in second chances. He lived with purpose, loved deeply, and gave freely of his time and wisdom. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and in the many lives he helped restore.

He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

A graveside service will be held at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, located on Park Road 4 in Burnet, Texas. The service is scheduled for March 2, 2026, starting at 12:00 pm.
