James Lane

James William Lane, 79, was born February 6th 1932 in Los Angeles California to Norman William Lane and Juanita Seavers Lane and passed away on January 10th 2012 in Horseshoe Bay Texas. Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years Lynn Snider Lane, son Todd William Lane and wife Pamela Lane, daughters Denise Celeste Lane and Cynthia Sue Lane Cromier and her husband Russ Cromier and grandsons Sean, Ryan, and Derik. He is also survived by his daughter Heather Lynn Henderson Sterling, granddaughters Laura and Amanda, son Matthew Colin Henderson and wife Barbara Bessette-Henderson and daughter Jennifer Henderson Knoll and grandson Jason. Preceding him in death are sister Virginia Lane, son Richard Lovell Henderson, son-in-law Jay William Sterling.

Jim married Nell Celeste Beach in 1954.

Jim attended George Washington High School in Los Angeles California and then attended USC on an academic scholarship and received his Bachelors and Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1954 and 1959 respectively. Upon graduating with his bachelor’s degree, Jim was hired at Union Oil as a process engineer. In 1958, he joined Thompson Ramo Woolridge as a process engineer and travelled the world working on various industrial projects for complex automation. In the early 60’s he and a group of colleagues formed a consulting company called Profimatics Inc. Jim and his wife Lynn moved to Houston Texas in 1968. He then joined Tenneco Inc. and served as executive director until he retired February 1992. In 1995, Jim and Lynn moved to Horseshoe Bay, Texas. While at Tenneco, he co-authored a book entitled, “Modern Control Techniques for the Processing Industries” used in universities and by plant managers.

Jim enjoyed playing chess at which he was an expert; bridge; tennis at which he was very competitive; and dancing at the various party groups at Horseshoe Bay. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Highland Lakes Men’s Chorus. He enjoyed photography, painting, and building many beautiful things.

Memorial services will be held at The Church at Horseshoe Bay Monday January 16th, 2012 at 11 AM. Pastors Pete Christy and Johnny White will be officiating. Donations in his memory can be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or The Church at Horseshoe Bay.

His wife and family will miss him deeply and treasure the many memories of cooking, traveling and wonderful family time with him.
