Jan was born on May 20th, 1950 to Gladys and Thomas Hall in London, England. After high school, she found her true calling in music. Jan joined a band in which she played bass and was also the lead singer. Jan and the band found great success and were fortunate enough to travel the world performing and doing what she loved. Her talents went beyond performing, as she was an equally gifted songwriter.
In 1978, Jan met Ken Landry while traveling with her band in Manama, Bahrain. Two short years later, on April 7th, 1980 they officially tied the knot in Somerset, England. Several years later, they moved back to the United States to settle down and start their family. They went on to have two sons, Jason and Jesse Landry, who were the center of her entire world.
Jan was always involved with her boys and their activities. You could find her cheering at both of their hockey games and supporting Jesse with his love of music and performing. Jan always had her door open to the myriad of friends that were in and out of the house. Everyone felt at home at the Landry’s and especially in Jan’s peaceful presence. She managed to share her love of music with the boys by volunteering for their school musicals and productions.
Despite her many successes in life, transitioning into the role of grandmother and becoming “Nate” may have been what brought her the most joy. Jan was truly alive when she was surrounded by her three precious grandchildren. She was known to always say “yes,” even when the parents said “no!” Her patience, gentle ways and musical talents will live on through her children and grandchildren forever.
Jan truly enjoyed life and was known to always live in the present. She was content playing guitar at home on the lake or relaxing on different beaches around the world. But, Jan was most at peace at her beloved Apache Ranch. The ranch inspired her to become a US citizen in 2013. Some would say, she was thrilled to be a US citizen, but she would tell you she really did it to become a TEXAN! This was one of her proudest accomplishments.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Thomas Hall. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Landry, son Jason Landry and wife June, son Jesse Landry and wife Brandi and her three grandchildren; Sloan, Ward and Sutton Landry. She leaves behind her family in London, England which include her brother Brian Hall and wife Jean, nieces Stacey and Carly and great nieces and nephews; Mason, George, Darcy, Johnny and Dolly.
In Jan’s honor, we ask that you not send flowers or make donations, instead pour a drink, turn on your favorite song and think of your fondest memory together! If you were lucky enough to experience Jan’s kindness and compassion, please help her legacy live on by showing the same to those who come into your lives.
