Kimberly Gay Lewis

Kimberly Gay Lewis, 41 years of age, of Manvel, Texas, passed away October 13, 2012, at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas. Kim was born August 31, 1971, at Shepperd Memorial Hospital in Burnet to Kenny and Karen Schaefer Lewis of Marble Falls. She was born with multiple handicaps, including being deaf. Her early years took her to the Texas School for the Deaf as it did her entire immediate family to learn Sign Language. At age 15, she enrolled in a program called Behavioral Training Research where she spent the remaining 26 positive and happy years. There were frequent visits to spend time with family back in the hill country.

Kim was preceded in death by grandparents Cecil and Bonnie Lewis of Smithwick and Billie Cowey of Marble Falls.

She is survived by her parents, Kenny Lewis and wife Carol Lewis of Marble Falls and mother Karen Schaefer of New Braunfels; her grandparents Ed and Barbara Schaefer of Kerrville, brother Kody Lewis of New Braunfels and sister Lindsay Lewis of Columbia, Mo. and step-sister Dawn Savoy & husband David of Houston. Kim is also survived by uncles and aunts Ronnie and Madeline Lewis of Bertram and Dean and Kelly Schaefer of McAllen and nieces and nephews, Alex, Nate, Angie and Kaiden of New Braunfels, as well as too many cousins to count.

Unfortunately, Kim’s life was filled with much pain and suffering; however, while with family and loved ones she could light up the room with her genuine smile. As a family that believes strongly that God has taken her to spend a life finally whole, with conversation and constant laughter enjoyed by her and the grandparents and great grandparents that have gone on before her to wait for her, that day has finally come. What a glorious day!

Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. at the Marble Falls Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Smithwick Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Matt Lewis, Mike Lewis, Ron Lewis, Justin Lewis, Jason Lewis and Shon Schaefer.
