Lori was born on August 16, 1970 to Paula Jordan McRae and John Robert McRae in Midland, Texas. With a father in the oil and gas industry, her childhood was spent in many places of which most was spent in Duncanville, Texas where she graduated high school. Her young adult life led her to Arlington, Corpus Christi and eventually back to Midland where she also began working in the oil and gas industry.
She discovered Horseshoe Bay and made numerous lifelong friends as well as meeting her husband, Levi Bailey. Lori liked to say that she and Levi “Crammed 50 years of marriage into 5 years.”
Lori was a strong woman and had a confidence in Christ that provided her comfort and strength to face life’s problems. She accepted people without judgement and made them her friend almost immediately. Lori was a guide and mentor to her nice Sierra and nephew Jordan. Lori and Levi bought a home in Alto, New Mexico and she helped create a network of ladies that grew to over 60 girls with activities such as kayaking, horseback riding, playing cards, cooking demos, and axe throwing. Lori never let her challenges limit her ability to live life.
Lori’s soft spot in her heart was for animals. Never has the animal kingdom had such an advocate. She supported and worked with animal rescue programs. In Alto, she hand fed the deer and wild horses in the backyard. She always said that was when she felt closest to God. I am confident that the people in Heaven will have a tough time getting near her as she will be surrounded by animals.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Levi Bailey of Horseshoe Bay TX, her parents Paula and John McRae of Fredericksburg TX, her sister Brandy Tripp and brother-in-law Mark Tripp of Lubbock TX, her niece Sierra Winther of Canyon TX, her nephew Jordan Winther of Midland TX, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be met by her beloved fur babies, Duncan, Mia, Max and Te’a at the rainbow bridge.
A Memorial Service will be held at Life Marble Falls Church, 1901 Mormon Mill Rd, Marble Falls TX Phone (830) 637-7435 on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Luncheon to follow.
