Mary Ann was born on April 1, 1936 in Borger, Tx to parents Lester Martin and Mary Elizabeth Adair. When Mary Ann was 8 years old she moved to Odessa where she lived until she left for college.
She graduated from Sul Ross University with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Education. Mary Ann went to El Paso to teach where she met her husband. Paul and Mary Ann were married on December 23, 1961. She continued teaching for 16 years during which time she was blessed with 2 wonderful children.
One of her favorite things was reading and books. This led to several years of her teaching career spent as a school librarian. Another of her favorite past times was doing needlework, at which she was extremely skilled. She loved music, had a lovely voice and spent many years singing in her church choir.
However, the most important things to Mary Ann were her family- parents, husband, children and grandchildren. Above all Mary Ann had a deep faith The Lord. She had no doubt that with the completion of this life, she would be with The Lord and loved ones for eternity.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Fred “Paul” Harris; daughter and husband Allyson and Mike Black of Marble Falls; son, Jonathan Harris of Marble Falls; 3 grandchildren, Alex Black of San Antonio, Emily Wieweck of Austin, Jacob Wieweck of San Marcos, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends in Odessa, El Paso and Horseshoe Bay.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at The Church at Horseshoe Bay on October 11, 2014 at 11am. In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Cal Farley Boy’s Ranch (PO Box 1890 Amarillo 71905-9985), Hill Country Memorial Hospice (PO Box 835, Fredericksburg, 78624) or the charity of your choice.
Special thanks go to Hill Country Memorial Hospice for the loving and caring staff, and also the dedicated and loving caregivers Mary Ann had in her home; Pam Basom, Val Chaffee and Leslie Preston. Condolences may be offered to www.clementswilcoxfuneralhome.com.
