

Mary Katherine Lawrie Kilmer, 75 of Kingsland, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026. Mary Kay was born May 21, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents James and Lois Mickelson Lawrie. Mary Kay attended Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin and The University of Texas-Austin. Mary Kay had a career with Canon USA and had many travels to Japan as a sales executive. Mary Kay was full of energy and after leaving Canon, she obtained her realtor’s license and became a realtor in the highland lakes where she eventually retired.
Mary Kay found true love later in life with her husband, Gene Kilmer. They had mutual interests in golf and in traveling in their motor home and went on many trips together across the United States.
When Mary Kay was not traveling, she was a member of Packsaddle Fellowship Church in Kingsland and a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (Lambda Nu Chapter) service sorority. She was a dedicated University of Texas fan and frequently attended the games in Austin.
Mary Kay is survived by children DJ Cornwell Austin, KC Cornwell-Reiland Horseshoe Bay, step-children Troy Kilmer (Rebecca) Austin and Sara Kilmer (Dillon) Houston. Mary Kay had three grandchildren Ashton Cornwell of Florida, James Reiland and Dylan Reiland of Illinois and three step-grandchildren Lyra Kilmer, Alessa and Audrey Wood Austin, sisters Kris Saucedo (Jacob) Kingsland, Patty Klossner (Rocky) Austin and brother James Lawrie Austin as well as extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Lois Lawrie.

The family would like to thank the staff at both Silverado Memory Care in Ausitn and the Arbor House in Horseshoe Bay for the care and compassion they provided for Mary Kay.
A Celebration of Life will be held later with family and friends.
