Robert (Bob) Henderson Sr. was born on July 28, 1955, in Maywood, California. He is survived by two biological sons, Robert Henderson Jr. and Eric Henderson, adopted children Rosa, Sean and Rachael, former wife Rosemary Ramirez Henderson and 24 grandchildren. Three men were influential in Bob’s early spiritual development – Jeff Walling (Downey Church of Christ), Uncle Robert Joliff (Fresno College Church of Christ), and Mel Weldon (San Leandro Church of Christ). They served Bob as father figures as they led, taught and consoled him. God became Bob's number one priority in his life. Bob also deeply loved his mother and grandmother who were both a big influence in his life. As a young man, Bob served our country in the United States Coast Guard, and he thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Bob also loved playing guitar and singing.
Rosemary was introduced to Bob and his jokes made her laugh. Rosemary noticed that Bob was a good man, talkative and loved to help others in need. They were married on May 23, 1992. Together, Bob and Rosemary fostered three girls and adopted three siblings. Even after a divorce over 20 years later, Bob and Rosemary remained good friends.
Bob proudly served as a sheriff's deputy in California. In midlife, Bob's business travels took him all over the world. He was pleased with the treasures he collected during these trips. Subsequently working for the Veterans Administration, Bob was proud to be serving our veterans. Just earlier this year, Bob was recognized for outstanding performance for the Department of Veteran Affairs. Bob was an advocate for both current military members and veterans. He was also inspired to serve Disabled Special Olympians. Bob Henderson was a good man who loved to serve others.
