Ruth Link

Ruth Boyett Link, age 94, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2011 in Austin, Texas. She was born to Faunie and Evie Boyett in Hollis, Oklahoma on September 2, 1916. Ruth attended public schools in Hollis graduating from high school in 1934. After graduating with a degree in education from Oklahoma A and M, she moved to Fence Lake, New Mexico and married Wilson Link. They raised their family of three sons, farmed pinto beans and Ruth taught school. They moved to Roswell, New Mexico in 1957 where Ruth continued to teach school. After a five year stint in Burley, Idaho in the early 1970’s they returned to New Mexico living in Albuquerque until Wilson’s death in 2008. Ruth moved to the Austin area following Wilson’s death.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Wilson; her daughter, Doris Jane; her son, Rusty; her parents; her brothers, Ray, E.L., and Paul; her sisters, Fairy, Ruby and Louise. She is survived by her sons, Bob and Lynn; daughter-in-law, Pam; grandchildren, Meredith Neimeyer, Casey Link, John Link, Jeff Link and Audrey Link Archer; great grandchildren, Emily, Owen, Elizabeth, Alex, Eva, Avery and Taylor. Ruth loved her family, including many nieces and nephews. Several knew her as Aunt Tootsie. She excelled with her gift of teaching and had a positive impact on many young people over the years. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A special thanks to the caregivers at Gateway Gardens in Marble Falls and Allways Care in Austin for their love and support over the past few months.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Marble Falls, Texas at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 8, 2011. Her ashes will be interred in the Community Cemetery in Fence Lake, New Mexico at a later date. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Fence Lake Community Church, P.O. Box 691, Fence Lake, NM 87315 or the charity of your choice.
