On January 16, 2024 we lost our dear mother, friend, wife, sister, and grandma, Diana Winterhalter. She was born in Lansing, Michigan on August 28, 1944, the only daughter of Robert S. and Phyllis Gay. After graduating from Michigan State University where she was a very proud Gamma Phi Beta sorority sister, Diana found and married the love of her life and began her career helping others in the Detroit school district. She moved to Columbus, OH in 1966 where she raised her beautiful family. There she lived an incredible life as the President of the Ohio League of Women Voters, an advocate for Ohio children with Planned Parenthood, and lobbyist in multiple political campaigns. Diana was out to change the world. She is an inspiration to everyone she met. Her extensive group of friends on Marco Island, is extraordinary. They were her family, and she loved every one dearly. She traveled the world with an adventurous spirit. She lived to spend time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bob and their three children Robert (Siti), Paul, and Shari (Troy). Their grandchildren Sammy, Jack, Zach, Emmet, and Austin. Her beloved sibling, Bobby, his three children, Stephanie, Lizzy, and Jamie, and their children, Grayson, Wyatt, Theo, Virginia Grace, Zeb, Elliott, Caleb, and Clara.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Diana’s memory to the charity of your choice.
