Walter was born in Cologne, Germany in 1925. He and his family escaped Germany during the Holocaust and immigrated to the United States where he joined the army and fought in WWII, including the landing at Normandy.
Walter married Peal Ellen Cahn and settled in Minnesota where he raised a family and became a successful businessman, manufacturing children’s clothing and owning commercial real estate. Walter had a presence that filled every room he entered, instantly capturing the hearts of any one he met. He was known as an award-winning dresser, a world class gambler and a funny, generous, loving family man.
Walter is survived by his two sons, Douglas Cahn and William Cahn, daughter Beverly Cahn, daughter-in-law Kimberly Moore and grandchildren, Maxwell Parker, Sydney Parker, Nicole Cahn, Anthony and Jamie Alongi and great grandson Grayson Alongi.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 12th, 2018 at the Jewish Congregation of Marco Island (JCMI) located at 991 Winterberry Drive Marco Island, FL 34145. Interment will immediately follow at Marco Island Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to JCMI or the Jewish Federation of Collier County.
