John A. Farrar, Jr., 85, of Marco Island, Florida, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012. John was born in Mineola, Long Island, New York to John and Jeanette Farrar and was raised in Verona, New Jersey. He graduated from Lafayette College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served as World War II was ending. John was a senior level manager with 3M, specializing in Telecommunications Production. His professional career took him to many interesting places, including Washington, D.C., Atlanta, GA, St. Paul, MN and South Korea. John and his wife Juanita retired to Marco Island, Florida, over twenty years ago, where they enjoyed their life together and made many friends and were very active members of the Island Country Club. In addition to his loving wife Juanita, John is survived by his son Jeffrey Farrar; Juanita’s children, Jo Shoffner and Wayne Hutchins; grandchildren Nicholas Reidinger, Leslie Hutchins and Michael Hutchins; great-grandchildren Madeline Reidinger and Christian Matthew Reidinger; and his sister Beverly F. Andersen. John was preceded in death by his daughter Wendy Reidinger and his sister Annie Jeannette Mau. A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at Hodges- Josberger Funeral Home on Marco Island. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
