Joseph P. Giordano, 66 years old and a 24 year resident of Marco Island passed away on March 14, 2012 at 6:30am. He leaves behind 2 daughters Christina L. Giordano and Deborah (Scott) D. Needles both of Marco Island as well as 2 grand-daughters. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Diane C. Giordano in 1993 with whom he is now reunited with after 18 years. He was commonly known as "Smoking Joe the Trolley Driver" in which for 22 years he drove the Marco Island Trolley. Joseph was an accomplished percussionist and musician graduating with a Bachelor's in Music from University of Miami and later receiving his Masters in Music from New York University. He played on New York City's Broadway circuit as well as with some of the greatest jazz musicians ranging from Paul Anka, Billy Eckstine, Sarah Vaughn and Cab Callaway to name a few. His teasing grin and wry sence of humor touched everyone he met and will be remembered for years to come. Memorial gathering for Joseph Giordano will be held at Hodges-Josberger Funeral on Marco Island on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2:00pm.
