Born in London, Ontario, Canada, Mary moved to Detroit, Michigan, after marrying her beloved husband, Deane. Together they raised their family in Michigan before retiring to Florida, where Mary enjoyed morning walks, playing Euchre at the park, spending time with friends, and embracing the warmth and community of southern Florida.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Deane, with whom she shared 51 wonderful years of marriage, and by her brother, Robert Purvis.
She was a devoted and loving mother to Nancy (Robert) and Karen (Mark); a proud grandmother to Sarah, Ryan, and Erin; sister to Larry Purvis of Marco Island; aunt to Kathryn (Lee), Paula, Debbie, and Rob (Lauren); and great-aunt to Keenan, Kaelin, David, and Cameron, of Ontario, Canada and Virginia.
Mary will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, quiet strength, and deep love for family and friends. She leaves behind countless cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service for Mary Holway will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dementia Society of America or to St. Matthew's House of Naples, Florida.
