William Allen Maguire

Born on November 28, 1941, in Newark, NJ., Bill was the second son of the late Francis Nicholas Maguire and Mary Estelle Colton.

Bill was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Ruth of 59 years and father to two daughters: Kerry Black (Chris) of Marco Island, FL; and Amy Kilburg (Oliver) of Potomac, MD. He is survived by his wife, daughters, his two brothers: Francis N. Maguire (Susan) of Liverpool, NY; and John J. Maguire (Tahnyana) of Memphis, TN; and by his 4 grandsons: Brandon Black, Christopher Kilburg, Carter Kilburg and Jake Kilburg. Bill’s grandsons were his pride and joy and they lovingly referred to him as, “Bubba”.

Growing up in New Jersey, Bill attended Catholic school throughout the Archdiocese of Newark. He went on to Bloomfield College majoring in History and was a member of Tau Alpha Kappa

Fraternity. It was at Bloomfield College where he met Ruth. After their graduation, Bill and Ruth were soon married and relocated to Bethesda, Maryland in 1967 for a career opportunity with

CNA Insurance Company. During his time with CNA, Bill was instrumental in establishing the Architects and Engineers liability insurance department and worked in various claims positions

before retiring as in-house counsel in 2003.

Bill’s focus was always on his faith, family and friends. He enjoyed playing golf, spending time at the beach in Ocean City, MD. and could be found with his buddies at his favorite local spot,

Jack’s Lookout on Marco Island, FL. Bill had the ability to make friends wherever he went and could be counted on to be the life of the party. He will forever be remembered for his fun-loving

personality and for being a kind and dear friend.

A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00am at San Marco Catholic Church located at 851 San Marco Road, Marco Island, FL. 34145.
