Brenda was born in Dahlonega, GA to James and Carol Boyd, as a proud ‘Army Brat’ she moved several times throughout her childhood, including a stint in Europe prior to college. She attended Florida State University and subsequently the L.A. School of Design both tenures were fueled by her fierce passion for creativity.
In October of 1983 Brenda married her soulmate, James Clayton Wheeler in a ceremony held at the Fort Hood, TX Officer’s Club. From there, she and James settled in nearby Copperas Cove, TX and started a family.
Around the same time, Brenda and her Mother Carol founded Artworks Advertising Agency out of a garage & quickly grew the business into a regional success. The two made such a great team that in just a few short years their business grew enough to rent an office space & hire over 10 employees. Over the subsequent three decades Artworks Advertising Agency proved itself as the market and thought leader in both the creative and traditional advertising spaces for the central Texas region. While Artworks Advertising did win numerous local and regional awards throughout its twenty-eight-year existence – Brenda’s most coveted was undoubtedly the National ‘ADDY’ award that Artworks Advertising won in 1993 for ‘Best Print Stationary’.
In 2008, After twenty-eight years, Brenda sold her business and retired to Tampa, FL to live with her Father, Lt. Colonel (Ret.) James R. Boyd where the two thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company until 2016 when Brenda re-located to Atlanta, GA to live with her two Sons. She spent the remainder of her days doing the things she enjoyed most: painting, reading and laughing often with her boys.
Of all the wonderful ‘things’ Brenda created throughout her life, she was most proud of her two Sons; Sam and Travis. In addition to her sons Brenda was survived by her Sister and Brother-in-law Debbie and Randy Hood, Sister and Brother-in-law Cathy and David Giles, Brother Gregory Boyd, Nephew Austin Hood, Nephew Joshua Giles, and her Niece Jessica Hood.
Brenda was truly a unique person who will forever be missed by hundreds of family and friends across the country and around the globe! She always will be remembered for her sweet disposition, her kind heart, and her innate ability to inspire those around her.
