

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald B. Covington, beloved father, and dedicated business owner, who passed away peacefully under hospice care on March 11, 2025. He was 81 years old. Donald was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Daniel Hill Covington and Anne Woodruff Covington.
He was a respected and trusted insurance agent who worked tirelessly for his clients throughout his career. Donald built a legacy of professionalism and care, always going above and beyond to ensure that his clients received the best service and advice.
He was a fixture in the community,he touched many lives, both personally and professionally. His warm smile, unwavering support, and dedication to his family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew his kindness, integrity, and strong work ethic.
Predeceased by parents Daniel Hill Covington Sr. and Anne Woodruff Covington, Brother Daniel Hill Covington Jr, grandson Alexander Hollingsworth Covington.(Alex)
He is survived by his son Todd Matthew Covington, daughter Karen Beth Covington, grandson Lucas Sebastian Rueda, his sister Betty Ware Covington Thorndyke, beloved Sister-in-law Elizabeth Owings Dulson (Beth), loved and trusted caregivers Jenkins Beyan and Rachael Kpanan. As well as a whole host friends, business associates, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Donald was born in Atlanta Georgia and grew up in Decatur Georgia. He was always self-driven and motivated getting his first job at 14 as a bag boy at the Colonial Grocery store in Downtown Decatur. He continued working part time and ultimately full time with Colonial completing the management training program during his senior year at UGA. He left Colonial in 1971. He graduated from Briarcliff High School's first class in 1962, He graduated from Young Harris College with an Associates Arts Degree in 1965 and from the University Of Georgia with a BBA degree in 1967. Rather than being drafted he joined the US ARMY in October 1967.
He served in Vietnam from July 1968 to July 1969. He was attached to the 3/4 Calvary Regiment of the 25th Infantry Division aka "Tropic Lighting."
Upon arriving in the country he decided to use his sales skills to obtain a job in the S-2 office, the intelligence section. He already had top secret security clearance and blistering typing skills.
He was quickly promoted to Company Clerk where he remained for the remained of his tour.
He was awarded the Bronze Star and The ARMY Commendation Medal both for Meritorious Service.
He was a self employed builder from 1971-1977 building homes in East Cobb County.
In 1977 he changed directions and began a career in the Insurance Business with Paul Revere becoming a disability Insurance Specialist and moving on to open his own independent Insurance Agency .
Covington & Associates. He was a Lifetime Member of The Million Dollar Round Table. Over the course of his career he won many awards for outstanding Sales and Underwriting .
He was an extensive global traveler. It would be easier to name the place and continents he has not been. Antarctica! No honestly, he has travelled nearly everywhere. He loved to say '"It's My way or the Highway" and he certainly did it his way which was always the right way.
Graveside Service with military honors will be April 10,2025 at 11:00 at the Pine Log Cemetery in Cartersville Ga.(Rydal) The direction will take you to Pine Log Methodist Church and Campground 3497 Pine Log Rd. in Rydal Ga.
