

Donald Kenneth Schroeder was born March 29, 1931 in Palatine, Illinois. He was called home to the Lord August 29, 2014. Donald’s parents were Henry and Alvina (Rosenwinkel) Schroeder. Donald entered the Kingdom of God through Holy Baptism April 12, 1931 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Palatine, Illinois. Donald was blessed with three Sisters and two brothers; Lorraine, Bernice, Jayne, Wayne, and Leo. Bernice and Leo preceded Donald into everlasting life.
In 1949, Donald matriculated at Concordia College, Milwaukee in the pre-seminary program and continued his undergraduate work at Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Indiana; graduating in 1953. He then entered Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis and studied for the Holy Ministry.
During his studies at Concordia Seminary, Donald earned his living working at Deaconess Hospital in Saint Louis. There he met and courted a beautiful Pharmacist named Nancy Brooks.
Nancy consented to be his wife and they were married July 15, 1957. Donald and Nancy were married for 58 years and were blessed with 4 Children; Andrew, Elizabeth, Jonathan, and Peter.
Donald was ordained into the Holy Ministry on June 4, 1957. He served congregations in Hackensack, Minnesota, Geneva, New York, Stuart, Florida, and Missionary at Large to Southwest Georgia, Chaplain, at Georgia State Penitentiary, Reidsville, Georgia, Wellsville, New York, and Albany, Georgia. Upon his retirement in 1996, Donald “repositioned” himself as interim pastor at Faith Lutheran Church. Marietta, Georgia, Savior of All, Cartersville, Georgia, and Hope, Lutheran Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. He then became the English speaking Pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Riverdale, Georgia. Most recently he was visitation Pastor at Faith Lutheran Church Marietta Georgia.
Donald is survived by his sons, Andrew (Carol), Jonathan (Brenda), and Peter (Karen), 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his loving wife Nancy, daughter Elizabeth Law and grandson Adam Law.
Interment was held at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Sandy Springs, Georgia
