Frank Dillon was born in 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Frank James Dillon Jr. and Lois Landrum Dillon where he lived a life rooted in faith, family, and music. From an early age he showed a deep appreciation for melody and rhythm, a passion that followed him into his younger years when he taught himself to play guitar and became a singer and songwriter. Ultimately, he front-lined The Chartbusters and released their one-hit-wonder "She’s the One", bringing a brief but memorable moment in the spotlight. His love for music never faded and remained a quiet joy throughout his life.
While spending several years in Washington D.C. on the performance circuit, Frank embraced another hobby and grew a passion for Skydiving and a member of the Pelican skydiving team for 4 years. While there, Frank met his loving wife, Landi, where they married in Holy Trinity Cathedral in Georgetown in 1971. They later moved to Atlanta to start a new life and a family ultimately settling in Marietta. He brought with him his love for skydiving and started a new club, the Spirit of Atlanta Club, where he also worked as one of the first thirty licensed skydiving instructors in the United States based out of the Triple H Ranch. Landi spent many days there with picnic lunches supporting the man who liked to jump out of planes rather than ride in them.
Beyond the daily life of parenting, driving kids to lessons, sports, and supporting his son's scout troops, he found great happiness on the golf course. An avid golfer, he cherished early mornings with friends in the clubhouse and on the green, friendly competition, and the calm reflection the game of golf brought him. Golf was more than a pastime—it was a place where he connected with friends, enjoyed nature, and found peace.
After many decades of work within the family company, Frank took the bold step to move to a new role as Team Member working for Target for almost 20 years. He was known as Mr. Frank by many children who would run towards his checkout line dragging their parents behind to get a sticker and have a visit with their friend. His real passion within the company was his bike building. He was THE BIKE BUILDER, the man with the plan with his tools ready to go to all of the area stores to keep the bike walls full, a role which brought him so much pride and joy.
Frank was a devoted Catholic, his faith guiding his life and values. He was deeply committed to his church, drawing strength from prayer and service, and living his beliefs through kindness, humility, and dedication to family. He was especially proud of his ten-decade rosary kept close daily for times of extra prayer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Landi, his son, Chris Dillon with his wife, Aimee Dillon, daughter, Tiffany Dillon with her husband, Juan Nassiff, and his four cherished grandchildren, Sawyer, James Patrick (JP), Aria, and Camila, all of whom were the center of his world. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, a man of faith, and a quiet hero whose life was enriched by family, friends, music, a man who impacted the lives of everyone he met.
There’s now another minstrel in heaven, hopefully the angels are ready for one who plays the electric guitar.
