

George Thomas Braswell, Jr. of Marietta, GA and Amelia Island, FL was born on the Ides of March, 1942 to George and Mary Ellen Braswell in Raleigh, NC. He grew up in Charlotte moving to Atlanta his sophomore year of high school. He is a graduate of Northside High School in Atlanta and Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was commissioned as a first lieutenant into the US Army and served in Vietnam. After service he started his lifetime career at Genuine Parts Company, where he had worked during the summers while attending Presbyterian College. At Genuine Parts Company he met the love of his life, Paula Fuller, and they were married in 1967. He was on the IT team that installed the first computer at GPC, where he continued to work for 41 years, retiring as the Senior V.P. of Information Technology. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Paula Fuller Braswell and their 3 sons, Bill (Jennifer) Braswell of Atlanta, Chad (Tricia) Braswell of Marietta, Patrick (Leigh) Braswell of Atlanta, and 8 grandchildren: Maggie, Jack, Viola, Avery, Bo, George, Charlotte, and Ansley; 3 step grandchildren, Bryson, Kaylynn and Karyssa Hiller of Marietta. Also his sister, Kay Braswell of Smyrna, Uncle Gordon (Martha) McAdams of Rocky Mount, NC, nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom enjoyed golf, fishing, and traveling and most especially his home in Amelia Island, FL. He and Paula and their family spend many happy days there, especially the week of Thanksgiving. He will be missed by his family and friends. The service will be at Northside Drive Baptist Church, 3100 Northside Drive, N.W., Atlanta, GA 30327 on Saturday, June 27, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Church Narthex. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Youth Musem, PO Box 78, Marietta, GA 30061.
