Born on September 18, 1947, in Jamestown, New York, James was the son of the late John Milton Eckerd Hill and Janet James Hill. He grew up with a love of learning and went on to graduate from Susquehanna University with a degree in English.
James built a career in retail, working for Eckerd’s Drugstore and later The Athlete’s Foot. He was known for his friendly nature, dedication, and the genuine connections he made with those he served and worked alongside.
In his spare time, James found great fulfillment serving as a bailiff for Cobb Superior Court, where he took pride in contributing to his community. He was also a devoted and lifelong fan of Cleveland sports, especially the Indians and the Browns, rarely missing a game and always cheering on his teams with enthusiasm.
Above all, James cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Bobbi Hill; his daughters, Heather Cooper and her husband Worth Cooper, Megan Hill, and Tara Hill; and his beloved grandsons, Jackson Cooper and Andrew Cooper, who brought him immense joy and pride.
A private memorial service will be held.
James will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
