

COL (Ret) James Lamar Sutton, 79, of Marietta, GA went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer on August 31, 2013. He was born in Gainesville, GA to the late James E and Drew Willie Ash Sutton on April 4, 1934. He was a 1951 graduate of White County High School and a 1955 graduate of North Georgia College where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree and a commission into the United States Army. He later earned a graduate degree from Babson University. Jim honorably served his country in the United States Army, retiring after 29 years of service. He was an active member at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn J. Sutton. Jim leaves behind his wife, Debbie L. Sutton, son, James O. Sutton (Cindy), daughter, Elizabeth D. Sutton Quon (Wendel), grandchildren, James W. Sutton, Anthony A. Quon, Carolyn V. Foster (Dustin), Kristen D. Quon, great-grandson, Michael D. Foster and sister, Anne Edith Allen. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:00am in the sanctuary of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00-9:00pm at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to Mt.
