John Christopher Rich Evans, 21, was rescued from his earthly tent November 10, 2010. After a thirteen year battle with cancer, he was granted the victory in heaven where he experienced the ultimate healing. John was native to Marietta and had an appreciation for the outdoors where God’s artwork touched him deeply. He was an avid fisherman who had the opportunity to fish the streams and rivers of Georgia as well as wonderful trips to Montana and Wyoming. Despite his aggressive treatments, John was able to graduate high school and become an Eagle Scout. He recently started classes as a seminary student at NOBTS. His life’s ambition was to minister to the suffering. He served the Lord Jesus wholeheartedly, joyfully, and faithfully. He will undoubtedly be remembered for his contagious smile and wild heart.
John is survived by his grateful parents, Chris and Kimberly Evans, three adoring siblings, Sarah Jan, Andrew, and Deanna Evans. He leaves grandparents Bill Rich of Germantown, TN and Mary D. Evans of Conyers, GA. He will be sorely missed by his Uncle Mark and Uncle Chip/Aunt Tammy in Tennessee.
Family and friends are encouraged to come for a service to honor John’s Jesus this Tuesday, November 16th at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. Please join us at 3:00 in the Student Center South located below the Activities Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to John's Fund, Bank of North Georgia, 1200 Johnson Ferry Rd, Marietta, GA 30068.
