José “Joe” Madriaga Sinon, 81, passed on May 9, 2024 surrounded by family in Roswell, Georgia. Born in the San Fernando, Pamgpanga, Philippines, he was a resident of Atlanta for 45 years. He was raised by his grandmother, Manuela Tolentino. A veteran, Joe joined the U.S. Coast Guard as a teen and emigrated to the United States, serving in Virginia and Florida. He married Erlinda Eres Sinon in 1967. Joe graduated from the University of Southern Alabama and worked in sales with Xerox, as an entrepreneur selling children’s clothing and shoes and for numerous automotive dealers in the Atlanta area. He lived in Alabama, Florida, Indiana before moving to Marietta in 1979. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and served on the committee for St. Vincent DePaul ministry for many years.
José was preceded in death by his mother, Rosario Madriaga Sinon and Father Bruno Sinon. He is survived by his sisters Gilda Sinon, Soccoro Sinon, Rosaura Sinon, Rebecca Sinon-Ponseca, Gemma Sinon and brother Cesar Sinon, his son and daughter-in-law Chris and Lisa Sinon and their children Mackenzie, Ethan and Justin, son and daughter-in-law Clifford and Effie Sinon and their daughter Angie, daughter and son-in-law Catharine and Brendon Bushman and their daughters Emmaline and Zadie, son and daughter-in-law Matthew Sinon and Jenny Nguyen and their children Alexander and Grace, son Jonathan Sinon and Lindy Liu, brother-in-law David Wade, sister and brother-in-law Mercy and Steve Lewis, brother and sister-in-law Felino and Faith Eres and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass celebrating José’s life will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Roswell at 11 am on Thursday, May 30. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service in Nolan Hall at the church. Burial will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at 11 am on May 31. The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society or Capstone Hospice in Jose’s name. The church service will be live streamed at St. Ann’s Youtube channel.
