Visitation will be from 1pm until the funeral hour of 4pm on Sunday, April 24 at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Barbara Hatchell officiating. Entombment will follow.
Kathol was born in Sylacauga, Alabama, moved to Dalton, Georgia, but resided in Smyrna, Georgia for over fifty years. She was a long time member of Smyrna First United Methodist Church. She earned her Educational Specialist degree in Business Education and taught at Wills High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Smith and her son, Sidney Carlton Smith.
She leaves to cherish, son, John Owen Smith of Smyrna, Georgia and daughter, Lisa Smith Pritchard (Phil) of Cartersville, Georgia. She also leaves to cherish her grandchildren, John Owen Smith, II, Amanda S. Rice, Zach Pritchard, Samantha Smith, Alex Smith, Drew Smith, Lauren Ashley Pritchard and her eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Kathol had a zest for life, enjoyed traveling and playing bridge, and she loved her family. Even in the last year of her life, she traveled out of the country with her family and looked forward to the trip with her daughter and extended family every year.
