Kenneth Charles Bollinger, 82, a friendly, kind soul joined God’s family on June 10th. He was the son of BH and Wilda Corbin Bollinger, brother of James M (1938-2023) and Benjamin D (wife Debbi), husband of 52 years to Fran and father of Jennifer Corbin Ewing (Christopher) and Garrett Reid (Ashley). Grandfather to Corbin and Charlotte Ewing, and future grandson Wyatt William Charles Bollinger expected in late fall. Beloved uncle to nephew Alan and nieces Gina, Jill, Monica and Courtney.
Ken was born at home and raised on the Bollinger family farm near Sturdivant Missouri in Bollinger County. He was blessed with the charm and manners of a southern gentleman and never met a stranger.
Ken earned degrees from Southeast Missouri State (SEMO) and Rolla School of Mines and Metallurgy (UMR) and was a member of Sigma Chi and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternities and maintained ties with fraternity brothers throughout his life.
Ken joined the Monsanto Company in St. Louis in 1967 and was assigned to the Cleveland area office based in Akron. He traveled as Sales Manager for Rubber Chemicals to Canada, South and Central America.
Ken and Fran met in Cleveland in 1969 and were married in 1972. They lived in Chagrin Falls, OH and Chesterfield, MO before moving to Marietta in 1985. The family enjoyed the suburban life in River Forest surrounded by neighbors and friends. The family attended many Atlanta Braves games, Ken always enjoyed playing golf at the Atlanta Athletic Club and reading innumerable books on World War II. After retirement from Monsanto in 1993, Ken worked in the plastic division of Bulkmatic Transport of Indiana until 2011.
After retirement from his second great career, Ken and Fran enjoyed ocean cruises, river cruises and land tours, visiting in total over 50 countries. His kindness and friendliness had no boundaries as he made friends across the world. His journey has ended way too soon for family and friends, but God’s will is what we accept. Ken will be in our hearts forever.
