

Laura Lynn Head passed away peacefully on May 7, 2014 at age 56. She was born on June 8, 1957, in Huntsville, AL to Pauline Posey Cavender and James Leonard Cavender, Jr. Laura spent much of her adult life in the Atlanta area as well as nine years in Southwest and Central Florida. She was a graduate of Madison Academy Class of 1975. She was also a graduate of David Lipscomb College in Nashville, TN and after graduation worked for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). In 1980, she moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with HCA working at the King Feisal Hospital for the Saudi royal family. At Al Johar grocery store in Riyadh, she met Michael Colin Head of Ipplepen, Devon, England. After five years of unconventional courtship across oceans and state lines, they were married in 1986 at St. Andrew’s Parish Church, Ipplepen.They then moved to Marietta, GA, where she enjoyed careers as a law office manager and a realtor and pursued her true love, interior design.
They were blessed with the births of Meredith MacKenzie Head in 1988 and Catherine Colin Head in 1992. She is survived by her husband, Michael Colin Head; daughters, Meredith MacKenzie Head of Athens, GA, and Catherine Colin Head of Tuscaloosa, AL; mother, Pauline Posey Cason, and stepfather, Charles Cason of Naples, FL; sisters, Phyllis Anne McConn, and her husband Rick McConn of Truckee, CA, and Leslie Cavender of Naples, FL; brother, James Leonard Cavender, III, and his wife, Terri Smith Cavender of Huntsville, AL; stepsisters, Tara Cooper, and her husband Tom Cooper, Wendy Patrizio and her husband Roger Patrizio, and Lea Kilgallon, and her husband Mike Kilgallon; nieces Sophie Head, Kate Turner, Tiffany Cooper, and Alana Johnson,; nephews Ryley McConn, Dillon Kilgallon, Cason Kilgallon, and Vance Johnson, brother and sister-in-law Malcolm and Jane Head.
She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, daughter, sister, teacher, and mentor. From her role as a Bible school teacher for elementary school students through her role as a Bible Study Fellowship leader to leading the women’s ministry at her church in Fort Myers, FL, she shared her heart and her gentle spirit with women of all ages. Her Proverbs 31 woman demeanor inspired women young and old throughout the Southeast United States. Her faith in the Lord and acceptance of His Will in her life was an inspiration to everyone who crossed her path. Visitation will be held at the Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home in Marietta, GA on Sunday May 11th, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral Services will be conducted at Church of the Apostles on Monday, May 12th, 2014 at 10am followed by Graveside Service at Kennesaw Memorial Park at noon.
