Lella Strong, aka “Leola” aka “Feetnin” aka “Sweetnin" aka "Nanna," the daughter of the late John and Josephine Davis, was born October 8, 1939, in Walterboro, SC. On Monday, March 29, 2021, she bravely ended her fight with IPF and was called home to be with the Lord.
Lella left her hometown, Walterboro, SC, at a very young age and moved to the Bronx, New York. There she worked as a cook and met her husband, Willie. She then developed a passion for nursing and started her career as a licensed CNA. She later moved to Marietta, GA and continued her career, serving the elderly, as a CNA for over 40 years. Lella also found her church family at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and served as an usher. Lella also dedicated a significant amount of time caring for young children as a foster parent.
Lella was so full of life. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, music, and spending time with her family. She was admired and adored by many, and she loved her friends and family more than anything in the world. She was known to be a very loyal, loving and devoted person who never met a stranger. She was also known to be a very determined and straightforward individual who always spoke her truth unapologetically.
Lella was preceded in death by her husband Willie Strong, former spouse Laurie Pinckney, brothers Herman Davis, Howard Davis sister, Connie Mae Davis; and sister-in-law, Alfreda Davis. She leaves to cherish her fond memories four children: Laurie (Bessie) Pinckney. Carrie (Solomon) Green, David (Michelle)Pinckney, Eugene Butler, step-daughter, Antionette Shields, 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grands and 1 great-great grand; her siblings, Virginia (Matthew) Bright, Louvenia (Willie) Francis, Jeanette (Harry) Brown, Rev. Curly Mae (Raymond) Teasdell, Sandra (Larry) Chestnut, Sylvia Ford, Woodrow (Annette) Davis and sister-in-law Gladys Davis; two aunts, Flora Bell Stephens and Florrie Ford; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and very special friends.
