Those who really know me, know that I enjoyed my life. I have lived a wonderful life, one filled with happiness, gratitude, love, and accomplishments I can be proud of.
I have always done my best to do the right things in life, even when the right things were not always the most popular.
I’ve always loved my neighbor as myself, treating others with the same care, respect, and compassion I would extend to myself. I hardly ever met a stranger. I enjoyed meeting new people from all walks of life and treated each with dignity and kindness, from the halls and offices of preeminent politicians and attorneys, to the local bartender who pours up the perfect IPA on tap. I found great joy in meeting new people, hearing their stories, learning new ideas, and connecting on all that makes us human.
To all the tremendous colleagues who turned into my genuine friends, thank you for your support and care. I hope I was able to provide you as much value as you provided to me along my journey. I truly enjoyed practicing law, as it brought me great challenge, growth, and gratification.
To my girls, Kenya and Kami, the love I have for you two since the day I met you both is a love that is rare and beautiful—one not born from biology but from choice, devotion, and an open heart. It is the kind of love that steps in without obligation, embraces without conditions, and grows through shared experiences. This love is powerful because it is chosen, proving that family is not just about where you come from, but who walks beside you. Please know that I am with you and will always have your back.
To my brilliant grandson, Carson, our bond is one of a kind! From the day you were born I knew you were special. You have always carried a light in you that only grows brighter with time. I have had the great joy of watching you grow into the remarkable young man you are today. You are not just my grandson—you are my greatest blessing, my pride, and my heart. You stand on the edge of endless possibilities. The world is vast, and life will bring its share of triumphs and challenges. I want you to always remember that strength is not just in how hard you push forward, but also in how gracefully you rise after a fall. Remember, character is built in the moments when no one is watching—when you choose kindness, integrity, and hard work simply because it is the right thing to do.
To my mother, Rochelle Wortham, if I could give you one gift, it would be the peace of knowing that you were a wonderful mother to Lee and me. From my first breath to my last, your love has been consistent and steadfast. Please do not carry sorrow in your heart, for I have lived a life full of love and joy. I will always be with you, in every memory, in every sunrise, in every quiet moment when you close your eyes. You gave me life, and you filled it with love. For that, I am forever grateful.
Saving the very best for last… my beautiful wife, Rometta. I love you beyond measure. You are a hell of a woman. I wouldn't be the man that everyone knows today if it were not for the love, support, laughter, hard work, sacrifice, and take-life-by-the-horns energy you’ve given me. For more than 30 years, you have been my greatest love, my truest friend, and my unwavering partner. Through every joy and every storm, we stood side by side, hand in hand, never letting go. And even now, as my time here has faded, my love for you only grows stronger. You have been my strength, my comfort, my home. If I could have one more lifetime, I would choose you again and again.
With love,
Mark AKA Caw Caw
