She was a longtime member of the League of Women Voters of Western New York and enjoyed numerous hobbies including golf, playing bridge with her wonderful neighborhood friends, and spending many summer vacations at the family cottage on Lake Erie.
After Marty and Chris moved to Atlanta in 1976, she became an active member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, serving as Ruling Elder, Clerk of Session, and Moderator of both John Knox Presbyterian Women and Cherokee Presbytery Presbyterian Women. She also served as Commissioner to the Presbytery, Synod and the General Assembly, President of the Board of Church Women United in Cobb County and President of the Presbyterian Village Auxiliary.
In their retirement, she and Chris enjoyed many trips to destinations in North America and Europe, including cruises to Alaska and Scandanavia. Marty was also a dedicated volunteer with the Cobb County Board of Elections and Must Ministries.
A loving mother and grandmother, she leaves behind her children David (Mary) of Oakland, CA; Kurt (Robin) of Rochester, NY; Beth Waller of Marietta, GA; and Patricia (Jeff) Schaefer of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Mark (Kaitlyn), Scott and Kate Lindeman of Oakland, CA; Rebecca Lindeman (fiancé James Vogt) of Nashville, TN, Ryan Lindeman of Rochester, NY; and Lena Schaefer of Hoboken, NJ. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Dittman and son-in-law Thomas “Tommy” Waller.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Marty’s caregivers, Patricia, Rose, Tawa, Margaret and Angie and physical therapist, Tim. Their compassionate care and support provided over the years made her life richer and more meaningful.
