Many have said that when thinking of Luther, they think of his jokes, his laughter, his great big smile for everyone and Varsity Hot Dogs. He loved fishing, camping, trips to Myrtle Beach, traveling and bird watching in his back yard. He served as a Boy Scout Leader and worked with the Campfire Girls when his children were young. During WWII, he served his country working in the Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyard in Baltimore, Maryland building the great Liberty Ships that were so vital to the war effort.
He was an inspiration to all who met him with his love of life, his family, his church and his God. Luther Walden was a long time member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church where his many friends added to the richness of his life. He will be greatly missed. If desired, a donation may be made to Mt. Bethel UMC in his memory.
