She was born December 19, 1952 in Fort Smith, Arkansa to Captain William C. and Mary Prichard Harris. She had three siblings, Helen and Gary and her twin sister, Becky. Since her father was career Army, the family moved several times when she was young, living in Germany for three years and ending up in Las Cruces, New Mexico, when her father retired and the family moved to Barling, Arkansa.
She graduated from high school in 1970 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and went to work as a legal secretary at the law firm of Bethell, Callaway & Robertson, where she worked until she married the love of her life, Eddie Putnam, on August 30, 1975, and moved from Fort Smith, Arkansa to Marietta, Georgia. She then went to work at the law firm of Haddon, King & Jackson, in Sandy Springs, Georgia, where she worked until they had their first child, Jennifer.
Two and half years later, a son, Harris was born and her second career as a mom was in full swing.
She loved being a housewife and a stay at home mom. She finished her working career at Pugmire Lincoln where she worked for over ten years. Everyone she worked with at Pugmire loved her and to some she was like a second mother. That was Monti!
She loved horses since she was old enough to know what they were and had her own horse for almost ten years. She loved animals and enjoyed sitting and watching the birds, bunnies, squirrels and chipmunks in her backyard. Years ago, she patiently sat outside with peanuts in her hand for days, until the squirrels and chipmunks came up and took them out of her hand. She was so happy when that happened.
Over the last several years, she had endured many health issues including breast cancer twice, but she never complained and always had a smile on her face even when she was in pain. As one of her friends said, "Monti was a great inspiration of strength and courage as she overcame health challenges with a smile and grace."
Monti was preceded in death by her parents, Captain William C. and Mary Harris and her brother, Gary Harris.
She is survived by her husband of almost 47 years, Eddie Putnam, of Marietta, GA. A daughter, Jennifer Franco and husband Jorge, a son, Harris Putnam and wife, Chatham, all of Woodstock, Georgia.
Sisters, Becky Ibison and Helen Harper, Sister in law, Betty Ann Colley, all of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Four grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Above all, she loved her family and will be missed!
