

A devoted husband, accomplished attorney, and proud veteran, Carl was known for his unwavering integrity, thoughtful wisdom, and quiet strength. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate enough to know him.
Carl earned his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, beginning a distinguished legal career marked by fairness, dedication, and professionalism. He practiced law with purpose and heart, earning the trust and admiration of both clients and colleagues over many decades.
Following law school, Carl began active-duty military service, which took him and his beloved wife, Nancy Keenan Cannon, to Charlottesville, Virginia; Anniston, Alabama; and then back to Charlottesville. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1975, Carl and Nancy settled in Atlanta before making their permanent home in Marietta, where they lived for the past 45 years, until her passing in 2024.
Carl is survived by his loving sister, Kay Hobbs of Florida; his nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends, extended family members, and former clients whose lives he touched with his kindness and counsel.
A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.
