Robert Bob Lee Entrekin Jr.

Robert Lee Entrekin, Jr. beloved son, husband, father, cousin and friend to many, passed away November 5, 2016. He was the son of the late Robert Lee and Willie Rose Hand Entrekin, of Moreland, GA. Bob was born November 2, 1946 and had just celebrated his 70th birthday. After high school Bob went to UGA where he met his future wife, Connie Paulsen. Both were loyal Bulldog fans. After they graduated in June 1968, they married in August.

Bob went to work for Milliken and Co. in LaGrange, GA. And after completing the management training program went to work in Human Resources for the company. He was Personnel Manager for 5 plant locations in LaGrange. Bob and Connie’s daughter Ellyce was born in 1971 and was a loving addition to the family. Bob changed jobs in 1982 when he took a job with Murata Electronics in Marietta. He was hired as a Human Resource manager and later became Vice President of Human Resources and remained in that position until he retired in 2002. He was well suited to that job because Bob liked people and he cared deeply about their wellbeing.

Bob was smart, kind, quick witted, God fearing, friendly, humble and a true gentleman. Most noted for his wonderful sense of humor. Bob loved family, friends, golf and golf buddies, UGA football, travel, and the outdoors.

For the past year, Bob had been fighting glioblastoma, a very aggressive type of brain cancer. He did so with remarkable courage, his ever present up beat, positive attitude and of course, his great sense of humor.

He is survived by loving wife, Connie; daughter, Ellyce Entrekin (Zach Carr), sister in law, Loring Brittain (Rob), of Papamoa Beach, New Zealand; many cousins and friends. We hope when we meet with Bob in Heaven, we can say to him, “Bob, they found a CURE, for glioblastoma.”

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, 4385 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, GA 30068, or to Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Office of Gift Records, 1762 Clifton Road, N.E. suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30322, Attn: Glioblastoma Research. Visitation will be held at H.M. Patterson Canton Hill Chapel on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 9:30AM to 11:30AM. A celebration of life service will be held at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 1:00PM.
