

Robert “Bobby” Hunter Pogue, III, MD, age 62, of Atlanta, passed away February 20, 2011. Dr. Pogue was born in Birmingham, AL to the late Robert H. Pogue, Jr. and Ann Clardy Williams Pogue, and grew up in Woodlawn. He graduated from UAB School of Medicine serving as a Chief Resident of Psychiatry and as a member of the Medical Honor Society. In 1981, he moved to Atlanta, GA and practiced privately for nearly two decades, specializing in addiction and recovery medicine, and, in retirement, available for consultation. Dr. Pogue was a pianist, guitarist, an avid golfer, and an active member in The Mankind Project.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Pogue Wyatt (husband, Cliff); grandsons, Parker Wyatt (6), and Hunter Wyatt (4), all of Franklin, TN; sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Martin, of Stone Mountain, GA; brother, Jonathon Pogue, of Birmingham, AL; niece, Michelle Muscato, of Gardendale, AL; nephew, Michael Collett, of Margaret, AL; ex-wife, Tina Black, of Mableton, GA; stepmother, Martha Ann Pogue, of Trussville, AL.
A funeral service will be held Thursday evening, 6:00 PM in Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Interment and Graveside services will be held Friday 11:00 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in The Garden of the Cross in Birmingham, AL. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in memory of Dr. Pogue to American Liver Foundation or UAB School of Medicine.
