Ruth Lang

Ruth Louise Wietzke Lang of Marietta, GA passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on March 21, 2024 at age 94. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Kent Lang and son Scot. She is survived by her sons, David and Kent Lang, her daughters Kandis Lang and Pam (Danny) Nichols, daughter-in-law Jo Ann, fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and brother Rev. Paul Wietzke. At her core was her tremendous love of her cherished family and devotion to her many friends.

Ruth was born to Rev. Walter and Louise Wietzke in Chicago, IL where she was raised and eventually met and married her husband, Kent, of 58 years. She earned her degree from Capital University in Columbus OH. She was a cherished elementary school teacher in various public school systems for over 30 years and beloved by every community she served. Ruth was a woman of boundless Christian faith stemming from a long line of Lutheran clergy and partnered with her husband in service to many ELCA congregations across the country.

She was an angel among us and will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection at 4814 Papermill Road, Marietta, GA on March 27th at 11:00 a.m. Family will receive friends during a reception after the service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Ruth Lang to the Kent Lang Endowment Fund for future seminarians c/o Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
