Ryan Patrick Murphy, age 37, of Marietta, Georgia, ascended to heaven on October 6, 2025. Ryan entered the world on August 18, 1988 and was born in Marietta to Tom and Mary Ellen Murphy. Ryan graduated Walton High School and then from Stanford University with a degree in Science, Technology and Society where he also played football as a defensive end. What he didn’t have in size, he made up for in heart.
In his spare time, Ryan enjoyed playing pickleball, chess and cornhole, CrossFit, Barry’s Bootcamp, traveling the world, and playing guitar. Ryan was especially passionate about anything involving the water, whether it be lakes or the ocean. He was an avid diver, always thoroughly enjoying the beauty of the sea. The family dogs doted on him, no doubt due to the extra treats and belly rubs. As athletic as Ryan was, he was just as poetic. He was a sophisticated linguist, with a sly sense of humor.
Ryan had the most beautiful piercing blue eyes. His smile shone light on all around him.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather Thomas Aquinas Murphy, grandfather Donald T. Morrison, grandmother Catherine Morrison and his cousin Tony Borcia.
He is survived by his father Tom, his mother Mary Ellen, his brother Dillon (wife Madeline), sister Kelly (husband Ricky Doyle), and his niece Ella.
The family welcomes visitors to their family home throughout the week leading up to the services.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be held in Ryan’s honor on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, located at 1350 Hearst Drive NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319.
A reception will be held immediately following at Indian Hills Country Club, 4001 Clubland Drive, Marietta, GA 30068.
