Thomas David Hopkins

A native of Montgomery, Alabama, he was born January 13, 1934, the son of Thomas David Hopkins and Elleene McCraney Hopkins. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jane McLendon Hopkins; and his children, Amy Soelzer Anderson, and Thomas David Hopkins III; five grandchildren, Adonica Nix, Kristen Eschbach, Eric Soelzer, Elizabeth Francis Hopkins, Thomas Cullom Hopkins, and four great grandchildren. His stepson Jack W. also survives him.

Mr. Hopkins Graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama in 1952.Earned his Bachelor of Science degrees from The University of Alabama in Arts and Science (1956) and in Mechanical Engineering (1958). Served in the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers Reserves from 1957 thru 1964. Mechanical Engineer-Kershaw Mfg. Co., Independent Lock Co., Lockheed-Georgia Co. Home Builder and Designer Owner and Broker, Tom Hopkins Realty Owner, Rogers Home Plan Service President, Hopkins & Son, Inc., Owned and operated two NAPA Auto Parts Stores, Bank organizer-First Cherokee Bancshares, Inc., Director and Secretary First Cherokee State Bank, Director and Secretary Past President, Woodstock Rotary Club, and Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce AMA SAM SPA MECA TTOMA PCMA. A funeral service will be held 10:00AM, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at H.M. Patterson & Son Funeral Directors, 1157 Old Canton Rd, Marietta, GA 30068. The family will receive friends from 8:30AM until service time. In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association in memory of Mr. Hopkins.
