

Thomas A. Masters, D.D.S., 82, of Marietta, GA passed away February 16, 2014. He was born on October 27, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Mary Guadagno. After graduation from Ponce de Leon High School in Miami, FL, Tom attended Emory University where he earned his DDS. Tom then served honorably in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant stationed in New Orleans. He practiced general dentistry in Miami, FL before earning his advanced degree in Endodontics from the University of Alabama. When Tom moved to Atlanta, he was the first endodontist in Georgia, practicing until his retirement in 1999. His passion was singing and included membership in the Peachtree Chorus, The Big Chicken Chorus and the Eastside Baptist Church Choir. Tom had the opportunity to travel the world, never meeting a stranger with his outgoing personality and sense of humor. Tom gave 100% to everything, including his dedication to his patients, but most importantly to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Cherie E. Winand, and grandson, Nathan Z. Lowe. Tom will be dearly remembered by his wife of 39 years, JoAnn Masters, children, Mary M. Stewart (Dale), Catherine A. Winand (Chip), John P. Masters (Cheryl), James L. Masters (Dale) and Margaret M. Lowe (Jeff), step-children, Timothy Lee Brown and Dawn L. Stone (Rodger), grandchildren, Joy Kindrat, Rebekah Brown, David Stewart, Abbie Winand, Jason Cole and Andrea Bennett, 5 great-grandchildren, sister, Janet Price, and many nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at noon at East Side Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 6:00-8:00pm at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill.
