Van graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration. After serving his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force, he started his civilian career as manager of First Federal Savings and Loan. He later brought his signature warmth and professionalism to Parisian and Belk, where he was known as one of their top suit salesmen.
Affectionately called “Van-the-man,” he was an avid reader with a deep love for historical literature. When not immersed in a good book, he could be found enjoying a classic film noir or cheering on his Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. Van was a devoted husband and father, taking pride in his yard and treasuring evening walks with his wife.
Van is survived by his loving wife, Crystal, and his daughter, Kay. He leaves behind many family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
