

William Arthur Reed, age 86, of Marietta, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. William was born May 28, 1935 in West Palm Beach, Florida to the late George and Alice Reed.
He graduated from Royal Palm High School in 1953 and moved to Atlanta where he studied Industrial Engineering at Georgia Tech, graduating in 1957 and 1962 with Bachelors and Masters Degrees.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kline Stanley Reed; by his children, Norma Reed, Michael Reed (Arlene Reed) and Joseph Reed (Susan Reed) and by his five grandchildren: Will Klanderman, Hannah Klanderman, Michael Lowry, Nicholas Lowry and Zoe Reed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Angela Wells Reed and a son, Edward.
Following graduation from Tech, Bill served his country for two years at the United State Army Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, Maryland.
Upon completing his Army tour of duty, he returned to civilian life and joined the Atlanta based international consulting firm, Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA). Bill spent the remainder of his professional career with KSA as a consultant, Partner, and Vice President. He led KSA's highly successful global textile industry consulting practice. His extensive knowledge of how to improve the productivity of textile manufacturing operations, his warm demeanor and his quick wit led to his services being in constant demand by the clients he served.
After Bill retired from KSA in 1997, he and Kline traveled extensively, domestically and internationally. They often invited friends to accompany them. Bill enjoyed the camaraderie associated with bridge and organized KSA Alumni Bridge gatherings for many years. He also organized annual KSA Alumni dinner gatherings that continue today. Bill was an avid amateur radio operator. He was active in North Fulton Amateur Radio League and enjoyed operating his ham radios from home and during travels. He earned ham radio's premier award, the DXCC Award, by communicating with other amateur radio operators in over 100 countries. He was dedicated member of St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Roswell, Georgia and a former Knights of Columbus member.
Bill will be interred at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on December 30, 2022 at 11:30 am with military honors.
